Tips for Women …
Necklines and face shape are very important. For example if you have a round face consider wearing a vee neck top that’s open for 3”to 6” this will stretch your face an give the illusion of slimmer features or if you have a long thin neck wear something that stops the viewers eye like a high round neck top similar to a turtleneck.
Style of Clothing is usually what your client will see you in day to day , but a good rule of thumb is wear layers for a portrait. A light blouse or top with a darker jacket is always safe and jewelry should be simple accent pieces -gold rope instead of large necklace -earrings studs or just small. Remember, we want the client to see you , not your accessories.
Make up … first a good foundation (to stop glare on your face ) use a liquid powder or a matte foundation . For more cheek bones a lot of blush and more lipstick than you would normally wear , it’s very important to remember that the camera will remove about 50% of all your makeup. Every day someone tells me that she doesn’t like to wear a lot of make up and when she views her portraits she will always say “I look tired, washed out and older !” yes, wear more make up for portraits ! |
